This position requires performing skilled maintenance and repairs on company vehicles and fleet equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and adherence to DOT and OSHA standards. Duties include issue diagnosis, routine inspections, preventive maintenance, record-keeping, inventory control, and occasional travel to branch sites. Mechanical expertise, a strong focus on safety, and effective multi-tasking abilities in a high-paced setting are necessary.
Job Responsibilities:
- Meet or exceed the expectations of our customers by providing positive customer experience.
- Diagnose, rebuild, and repair vehicles, engines, and mechanical systems.
- Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
Fabricate, weld, and repair steel and metal assemblies for trucks, trailers, and equipment. - Modify and reinforce truck bodies, equipment mounts, and structural components as required.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports.
- Maintain general housekeeping and organization of the shop.
- Occasionally travel to branch locations to service or repair vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain sufficient parts and materials inventory and coordinate parts runs or outsource service as needed.
- Maintain all certifications required by DOT.
Comply with all federal, state, and local driving laws and DOT and FMCSA regulations. - Comply with applicable OSHA regulations and safety policies/procedures.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Work safely.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, techniques, and equipment used in vehicle repair, fabrication, and maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs.
- Skilled in welding, cutting, grinding, and metal fabrication processes- Aluminum MIG welding experience required.
- Ability to use power and hand tools, fabrication equipment, and diagnostic technology.
- Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines and easily adapt to changing situations.
- Effective communication and stress management skills.
- Basic adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division skills.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or
- Five years of experience in vehicle/equipment repair, fabrication, and maintenance; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications and/or Licenses
- Ability to obtain CDL license and DOT medical certificate, if needed.
- CDL Class A a plus
- Ability to pass operator exam and drive powered industrial equipment.
- Welding certification preferred, or ability to obtain.
